The Cottage is run by a dedicated group of volunteers who welcome writers to Dunedin and maintain its upkeep. To ensure the future of the Cottage, the Trust needs to raise $6,000 per annum to pay for running costs. Our dream is to also have sufficient funds so that every writer in residence will receive a stipend to support themselves while they are writing. The cost of this is $20,000 per annum. With the help of supporters, we can secure the future of the Cottage – and Robert Lord’s legacy – for generations of writers to come. 

• Sign up to our cottage newsletter to stay abreast of news and receive invitations to events.

• Join our volunteers who give their time to welcome writers and help keep the cottage running.

• Donate. All donations, however large or small, contribute to rent-free furnished residencies. 

• Become a Patron by gifting $750 or more per annum. Patrons receive invitations to bespoke events and activities, in the knowledge that they are directly helping the writers in residence.   

• Make a bequest.

Larger amounts can be targeted – for example, $5000 can fund a four-week residency including a stipend for the writer.
